2015 Founders Day Luncheon

History with its flickering lamp stumbles along the trail of the past, trying to reconstruct its scenes, to revive its echoes, and kindle with pale gleams the passion of former days. ~Winston Churchill

On November 07, 2015, we gathered with friends and family to celebrate The Girard Historical Society's Founders' Day. Thank you to everyone who joined us for this wonderful occasion, including Trumbull County Commisioners Frank Fuda and Mauro Cantalamessa.

Our museum theme for the 2015 season is The Ohio Leather Company, a former Girard business that put food on the table and shoes on the feet of many area residents. If you haven't been in to see the display, time is running out. Once the holidays hit the Barnhisel house, the Ohio Leather Company and its rich history will be packed up and put back in the vault. This is a do not miss display for everyone, but particularly for those who grew up in Girard and have memories of the OLC and its "fragrance". We have employees photos, tools of the trade and leather samples that you can touch, leather made right here in Girard.

We had a tremendous turnout for our Founders' Day Luncheon, a gathering of friends, family and our much appreciated supporters. Thank you to everyone who had a part in making this a wonderful event, no matter how small your contribution.
